DONATIONS TO STREET CHILD MAKE TANGIBLE DIFFERENCE

Last year, Griffin Media Solutions began to regularly donate to Street Child, as part of a scheme to provide education for children in Sierra Leone, who are amongst the poorest in the world. Around 12 months later, we’ve received an update as to the impact that the donation makes and it’s wonderful news!

“In the east of Sierra Leone, 89,000 children aged 6 to 14 were out of school,” explains Anna Hussain, head of philanthropy at Street Child. “A further 24,000 children who are in junior secondary school were at risk of dropping out.

“However, thanks to the generosity of Griffin Media Solutions and other concerned funders, Street Child is giving them back children their Right to Learn and their communities real hope for the future.

“Elsewhere in Sierra Leone, we are placing a renewed focus on our urban work. With thanks to supporters, we have been able to continue supporting communities whose lives were turned upside down by the Freetown mudslide in August 2017. Street Child is providing social support for those children who lost their parents, business grants for caregivers, and education packs for the children returning to school this September.

“It should be noted that Sierra Leone underwent a peaceful election earlier this year, resulting in a new Government, both of which has placed education at the centre of their rhetoric.”
