Street Child benefits from Griffin support

Griffin Media Solutions is supporting Street Child to provide education for 10 to 15 children a year in Sierra Leone.

“We’re extremely grateful to Griffin Media Solutions for its support,” says Jo Cooke, Street Child’s communication manager. “We believe that every child deserves the chance to go to school and learn. Thanks to Griffin Media Solutions we will be able to give more children that chance.”

Street Child provides educational opportunity to some of the world’s poorest children. Using the donation from Griffin, specialist social work teams will work with communities and on the street to identify vulnerable children and connect them with an appropriate caregiver.

Business teams will then help caregivers with the cost of education through a Family Business Scheme, a package of grants, training and mentoring aimed at providing a sustainable source of income to allow families to afford the cost of sending their children to school. Monitoring will be carried out to check the children’s attendance and progress in school, along with the success of the family business.

“We chose to give to Street Child on an on-going basis because we believe the charity has the ability to make a definite difference to the lives of vulnerable children using our donation,” explains Iona Walton, publishing director of Griffin Media Solutions. “In less than 10 years Street Child has transformed the lives of over 120,000 children across Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nepal, an impressive record for a smaller charity.”
